I know this is the reloading forum, but close enough...

I bought this ammo today and shot it, grouped very well in my Para Expert 1911...Good enough that I bought another box. I have in mind of having this loaded in my pistol for home protection, but also and more importantly, 185 JHP at nearly 1200 FPS and 800 Pounds Energy for woods protection from wolves and cougars....Honestly the chance I have to use it for that is slim, but I would like a thin skinned wolf or cougar should succumb to this combination?

YUP!
I'd rethink cartridge and gun for bears(big ones). They have more hide, hair, muscle and bone.
I knew a guy who once shot and killed a black bear with one shot from a 1911 and 230gr hardball. Bear tried to invite himself into his wall tent one night.

I have shot a ground hog with a Sierra 185 JHP with 7.7 grs Unique and it does an honest 1000 fps over my chrno from a 5" 1911 style 45 ACP. Shot was from about 30 yards with him standing up facing me in the chest. Almost cut him in half. It is wicked.

I used to carry the 185 gr Winchester Silvertip hollow point ammo in my .45 ACP. It's rated at 1000 fps by Win, I never ran any over the chronograph. Real soft-shooting load. Easy to control.

Have a PILE of 185 gr Nosler HP bullets to load for my .45 for practice ammo!
