I have used 30 cal (30-06) 180 gr Nosler Part. bullets with good results on elk, deer, and plains game in Namibia. I have used 30 cal 150 gr BT with good results on medium sized mule deer and antelope. I am interested in trying either the Nosler AB or Nosler Silvertip for deer in Kansas. Same as before 30 cal in the 180 gr. I have read very little on either bullet. Please forward any thoughts, concerns, etc. as well as ranking of all four bullets based on the application I have described.

Thanks,

Welcome to the forum, glad to have you with us here.

As you know the 308 180 gr PT is a great bullet and tough to beat for hunting everything from mice to moose.

The 150 gr BT in a 30-06 is an excellent choice for deer. The 180 gr BT is actually a very robust bullet and will work equally well on deer and elk sized game. The 180 gr AB is a bonded bullet that will cover most all hunting requirements in NA.

IMHO, the 165 gr AB in your 30-06 would be the perfect weight for deer. It has good velocity and BC for long range shots and enough weight to give reliable exits from any angle on deer.

+1

The 165 was designed for the 30-06; it is simply perfect for this rifle. The AB would be an excellent bullet to use, handling everything.

I have used the 165gr NP on Elk, Mule Deer and Whitetails. One of my hunting buddies uses the 165gr AB on the same animals.Rick.

If I were in your shoes I would opt for the 165 AccuBond

Just so you are aware the bllistic silvertip was another you wee asking about it is the same as a regular ballistic tip for all intensive purposes it just has a little teflon coating and a grey tip instead of the color code

Have to agree with everybody on the 165 Abonds. I used to shoot the 168 Silver tips, but now use only the Abonds for my 30-06.
