This topic has probably been already discussed and debated.

I have been wondering what are the specific differences other than price, between Ballistic Tips and Acubonds? (comparing the same grain sizes (165, 180, etc.) :?:

The AB has a thicker jacket and a bonded core.

Yep, that about sums it up. Since the BT's are a traditional cup and core design, they have a maximum recommended impact velocity around 31-32 hundred, where the max recommended for the AccuBond is as fast as you can push it.

I think that 3100 is a little optomistic, the BT's therefore will not hold together near as well when impacting bones, and will spread a lot more pieces of bone, bullet and misc. stuff thoughout the bullet path.

The BT has been toughened up and the 2011 catalog list a max impact velocity at 3200 fps. I still like to keep my impact velocity below 3000 fps and they work great! The AB has an unlimited impact velocity.
