Can someone tell me if the ogive of a .284 120 gr ballistic tip is the same as the same caliber but 140 gr ballistic tip? While we're at it, how does the Accubonds compare in the same weights? Thanks, for the insights.

Yippee! Somehow, I thought you would know the answer. Thank you so much for responding.

My pleasure Sir!

Here is a little more detail for ya-

120 gr BT- Length is 1.130" SD .213 BC .417

140 gr BT- Length is 1.255" SD .248 BC .485

140 gr AB- Length is 1.290" SD .248 BC .485

The solid base is the same on all these bullets as is the ogive.
The 120 gr BT uses the 140 gr BT jacket which is cut bacl to the 120 gr profile. This gives the 120 gr BT a thicker jacket at the nose of the bullet, making it much more robust.

I had gathered that the 120 bt was a fairly well constructed bullet so I was wanting to give it a try. With the same ogive, I'll use the same COAL as I've used with the 140 bt. It makes for a starting point anyway. My thinking is that 4831SC should make a good powder in the 280. Next recipe will be reloder 19. Thanks again.

Steve

The 120 gr BT is not only a tough bullet, but very accurate.
Here are my results from my 280 AI.
