I had been developing loads and practicing with bullet's 375 Weatherby since it's arrival here from Missouri. I need to get use to the rifle since I will be the one who gonna ended up using it on our upcoming African Safari. My friend insist on using the 235 grain Barnes but I believe the AccuBond will be a much better bullet for plains game. Here's the best I could do so far. The rifle likes the AccuBond a lot.

3 shot @ 110 yards with 260 grain AccuBond. Velocity at 2875 Average. Load consist of 80 grains IMR 4350.

3 shot @ 110 yards with 235 grains Barnes TSX FB. Velocity at 2950 Average. Load consist of 82 grains IMR 4350

I would certainly stay with the AccuBond and I agree it would be better to use than the 235gr TSX. The 300gr TSX is good for big and dangerous game and will out shoot the 235gr TSX in that rifle. I really like the consistent group formation of the AccuBond. Also, very good handloading and shooting. Can't wait to hear how that AccuBond load does on the tougher African plains game.

I agree with AccuBond. Before leaving the range this morning, I shoot the remaining two AccuBond at a metal plate 150 yards away offhand, and to my surprised, I was able to connect both shot easily, considering how lousy offhand shooters I am. :( I took picture of the plate with my I-Phone. You can clearly see the large splatter of the big bullet.

That looks like a fine load for plains game. I believe that rifle is a shooter. It is satisfying when it all comes together at the range.

I would go with that load and it should put them down fast with out a lot of running after the shot. You have to hit African plains game different, the kill area to strike vitals is not quit the same as when we shoot our deer, antelope, elk and so on. I think the AccuBond will give you good shock results as well as penetration which you will need both. Like I said I can't wait to hear of your trip and how well the 375Wby does.

If I can get my 378 bee to shoot the 260 AB like that I would be happy.

Nicely done. You gotta love the 260 AB. My 375 Ruger shoots them in a group like that at 2880. They make excilent elk medicine!

DF, There is a DVD put out by Kevin "Doctari" Robertson called The Perfect Shot. Its worth it. My buddies and I watched it before our trip to South Africa. Shot placement is not the same place as North American game. The spot is in the lower third of the animal and if you hit them high you will be in for a long day of tracking. The longer you have to track the wounded animal, the less time you have to hunt the others on your list. Good luck on your hunt.

+1 on the movie or the book. I read the book I believe it is the same thing just a book before I went to africa a few years ago. Russ is very right on how different the animals over there are built. I figured that if I aimed to take out the bottom third of the shoulder I'd be ok.

Put a 225 gr. AB through both shoulders of a kudu bull at about eighty yards and the dang thing still ran off about eighty yards before it did a few kart wheels. Things over there are pretty tuff even when hit right.

Lots of mental hunts before you get there make for a good time now and when you get to do the real thing.

And if you don't hit them right. We tracked my blue wildeebeste for a day and a half and still lost him. Hit him high, the hole closed up, thus no blood to track. Our trackers said that he joined the herd and off they went.

Pretty much done with load developement for this rifle. 83 grains of IMR 4350 will push the 235 grains Barnes TSX FB 2975 fps. The rifle likes it a lot. I could probably increase another 3/4 more grain and hit the 3K mark but I don't think it's necessary.

Here's' the 5 shot between me and my buddy.

I fired two shot after cleaning the bore, noted the rifle shooting half inch to the left. Dial two clicks right and fired the 3rd shot. Handed the rifle to my buddy and he fired two shot. He was hitting one inch low and I one inch high.

Looks great. Can't imagine any game noticing the difference in 25 fps. It certainly looks like you are there. Congratulations. Now, if the game will co-operate and show themselves as they should, it will be game over.

Thanks, DrMike. I would like to see how this bullet perform. The nose cavity is cavernous. I have a feeling that I won't see no exit wound, which is good.

Both the AB and the TSX are good bullets. I have used both in a variety of calibres and seen them used in quite a selection of even more calibres on large game here in Canada. Very few of either bullet have been recovered so far. My hunting partner frequently carries a 376 Steyr shooting ABs. I've been with him when he shot elk and bison with that load. It certainly worked well on those critters. The bison was DRT and no elk has taken more than a couple of steps sideways and back after being shot with it. I think your load will be a hit in Africa.
