Don,
Very sorry to hear about this....... however I will share some lite on this situation. I myself have been down the colon cancer trail...... in spring of 2024 during a Cat scan they saw spots that looked concerning...... after testing 3 places it was confirmed they were cancer.....
After a trip to Dana Farber in Boston an Oncologist , Sarah Slater started me on a 4 bag infusion of Chemo of the very strongest stuff they can give you........ she warned me this would make most folks very ill and we would likely have to "cut it back" to what I could stand. I took 7 months of that and after that time, these dime sized spots were reduced to not detectible in a scan. My tumor marker went from 7 to a 1......
I have a pilot buddy whose father got colon cancer at 69 after a long battle to include removing the bottom of his liver, and completely removing his colon and installing a bag he went on for 24 YEARs till he was 93; and went because of a heart conditions!
Keep a stiff upper lip, pray ALOT and remember ' miracles do still happen'
I can personally relate to that.........
Non of us know the future , I have at least a 50% chance mine will return in the future. The numbers avg 3/5 years.
If that happens then I will have that much "extra time" I wouldn't have had 30 years ago!
I feel absolutely fine now: with the exception that chemo causes neuropathy.......😞 . I have had to learn to deal with it. It is better than a year ago. So fingers crossed on that one.
I realize that diagnoses is very scary, BUT others have survived for years after total colon removable. So I am completely aware how your feeling.
Wishing him the very best of luck with this; its all in the the surgeons hands and how the Lord guides him.🙏
Your daughter will need her "rock" to help her thru all this, and I am sure you are there to hold your family together thru these toughest times.
I wish you and your family the best for the upcoming holiday season. Look up to the heavens for help......
E
