All- I have about 400 rounds of -06 and about 200 rounds of 300RUM that are once fired and ready for the bench. Normally I would grab the bottle brush, get a pan of warm soapy water and have at it. But, that's not gonna happen this time as I need to get moving on getting these shells and get them reloaded.

So, what type of cleaner/tumbler do you use? And why. Mind you these are fairly clean and de-capped already. I was using a old rock polisher that was handed down, and it gave up the ghost some time ago.

Apologies in advance if this has been discussed already.

Thanks,

WM

I have 2 tumblers..... newest is a Lyman 2500 Pro Magnum. Really gets the media churning.

Iosso case cleaner solution for a big batch in a hurry just to get them clean. Rinse in really hot water, then spread in the sun after blowing off with compressor air.
No help, but I made my own vibratory cleaner using a variable speed sabre saw, shock cording, and the larger plastic coffee cans nested in a stainless bowl. Guess I need a picture. The huge advantage is the ability to balance the # of cases, media volume, and speed until I've got things shaking and media moving the way I want. When I do, cleaning and shining doesn't take long!! :)

I use the RCBS. I works as expected. I would love to get one of the sonic cleaners. I hear that with one of those you don't have to clean the primer pockets which is my least favorite job of reloading.

I don't really save that much time and the cases are dull, rather than polished. If cleanliness is your sole concern, the sonic cleaner may be the way to go.

Thank you Dr. Mike. Your info does change things for me. I do like a bright shiny case, and I don't know that I would want to clean in the sonic cleaner and then tumble.

I have a Lyman 2500 Turbo as well and it satisfies my requirement. I use a corncob and walnut shell media mix to get my brass all prettiful. I want no part in drying anything. A few taps and cursory wipedown and I'm ready to re-size.

I cleaned a mix of 38Spcl, 9mm, 357Sig and 22-250Rem this morning. Now I have 30 x .270Win, 30 x 25-06Rem and 27x358Win churning away in mine right now.

Sonic is the way to go for clean. Corn cob with Flitz in a vibratory tumbler to put the polish on after you have them clean.

I run a Lyman Tumbler with whatever media I can find. Works fine, polishes cases great. Cabelas tumbler is nice and quiet. I listened to Woodycreeks this weekend and you can actually carry on a conversation with it running. Not so with my Lyman..
