I have been using federal premium 215 large rifle mag primers exclusively. I can only find CCI mag primers for my 300 win mag and 270 WSM.
Ive heard the pressures are higher and not as reliable as some other primers.
Any feed back on CCI primers for my 270 WSM and 300 win mag is appreciated

There are plenty of loaders who use CCI primers and have no issues with them. OTOH, there are people out saying all kinds of unsubstantiated things about powders, primers, cases, rifles, dies, presses, and the list goes on forever. I'd try 'em out and find out for myself if I was you.

CCI 200 and 250 primers are mostly what I use no problems with them and will continue to use them. Have used them in a wide variety of different rounds from 260 Rem all the way to 375 Ruger. Just drop down slightly and work up your loads to where you were.

I have used and still use both primers on occasion. The Federal 215 MM Primers are a little hotter and in some rifle's loads, I have adjusted the load a little. Other than that, they both give good results.

Richwfrost - I've been using CCI primers off and on since the 1970's. NEVER had a problem with them. Am working my way through a thousand of the CCI benchrest primers now, loading ammo for my .308 Win, and often use the standard CCI primers with my 6mm & .30-06 loads.

For a long time the only large rifle magnum primers I used were CCI's. They worked great in my .300 Win mag & 7mm Rem mag rifles.

I use CCI 250s for my 300 winnie...

The thing I noticed the last primer/powder/ammo shortage is that CCI seemed to be some of the first primers to show back up on the shelves in real numbers. Not sure if they have a greater manufacturing capacity or maybe it is just my imagination.

Anyway, I use CCI and Win primers quite a bit. For some reason Federal primers are always more difficult to come by.

I have used CCI primers for many years, just as I have used Federal, Winchester and Remington primers. I've never found CCI to be a problem in any instance.

Rick, what are you shooting? Sporter rifles? Meaning just your run of the mill hunting rifle?

You will not see enough of a difference switching primers like that. It won't make you shoot a sub 1" group going with one and the other spread your group out to 2 plus inches.

CCI makes a fine primer as does Winchester and Federal.

Myself I use federal GM 215 m in my hunting rifles... but there are application I use CCI primers and they go off every time all the time and group well. I use Winchester's for some things too.

With all that being said if you have the shooting bug and need some primers are you permitted to buy them by the 100 or do you have to get 1000. If you can just get two hundred to get you by until you can locate some federal gold medal primers.

Fed 215 are HOT!

CCI's are cold. I have seen up to 200 fps difference in my 25-06. Adjust charge accordingly

AMEN! + one Actually, the CCI mag primers gave very consistent accuracy in my 300Wby, 340Wby, 375Wby and 416Wby and really kept extreme spread and SD lower than Fed 215 or Winchester magnum primers, but I experienced this only with my Wby Cartridges. In the 300Win mag both 215 and CCI mag primers preformed pretty much the same depending on the powder I used. We are very fortunate to have a variety of primers to choose from today.
