Does anyone have any early experience with this powder? I am in the infancy stage of a hunting load development for my new 308?

Not in the 308, but I gave it a whirl in my 22-250. Highest velocity I've ever got in that round but accuracy wasn't very good. It wasn't terrible, but I've got some tackdriver loads so it didn't make the cut for me. Your mileage may very.

interested in what people thought when comparing it to varget since the CFE223 is from there "extremez' line and it seems to have higher pressures

The only comparison I have between the 2 is again in the 22-250. Varget shoots great in my rifle. The biggest problem I had with the CFE223 was I couldn't get it to be consistent. My ES would be in the 50-130fps range when I would be in the teens and sometimes single digits with other powders. Like I said, velocity was smoking (4300+ with 40gr bullet) and the 100 yard groups weren't too bad, but at longer ranges the variance in MV strung the groups out big time. Never stuck with it long enough to test any sort of temperature stability with it. A pound of powder is pretty cheap and probably worth testing. I say go for it and maybe you'll be lucky and get awesome velocity and great accuracy too!
