I was partaking if they extremely risky practice of perusing the local classified the other night and came across a guy selling a Christensen arms MPR in 338 lapua. At $1700 it seemed to good to pass up.

Turns out I had bought a rifle from this guy before. A 6.5 creedmoor in a MPA chassis that I put my 22 creedmoor in.

First impressions of the MPR, man this thing is cool, and much lighter than it looks. I’m really impressed with the ergonomics off the chassis and the folding feature.

I just so happened to have a vortex PST GII 5-25x50 and a set of Warne mountain tech medium rings in the gun room that turned out to be a perfect fit. I put a penguin grip on it that finished out off nicely. I really like the thumb reset and Palm swell of the penguin grip.

I ordered all the necessary components to start reloading. Man is the lapua an expensive bugger to load for. I spent over $400 on dies, brass, and a 8 pound jug of re25. Being an impatient man I also bought another $200 on ammo. This good deal is quickly turning into as money pit.

I took it out to shoot today and luckily it looks like it is going to be worth the price.

It shows a definite preference to 300s over 250. The S&B 250s shot poorly 2” groups at 100 yards and the PPU 250 HPBT grouped right at 1-1.25”.

Recoil wasn’t bad at all considering it’s a 10 pound rifle. The muzzle blast was pretty brutal. I guess I’ve become a bit of a wimp from shooting all these small suppressed rifles.

For kicks I had brought my 22 creedmoor with me. A pallet cleanser after shooting the big gun. While my buddy was trying out the MPR I shot this group off the bipod with an ammo box for a rear rest at 300 yards. That’s about as good as I can do.

Looks like a good find. Yeah, starting out to load for a new cartridge can be expensive. You have done well.

The Lapua can be an accurate cartridge. Those for which I worked up loads all shot better than I could. The owners were always pleased with the results. Looks as if you definitely scored on that one. Congratulations.

Congrats on a nice find. Sure looks to be a shooter.. I'm surprised it doesn't like the 250 gr loads.

Got my bipod mounted. Looks like it was built for this rifle.

I can’t wait to get out there and shoot again. It’s very comfortable to get behind.
