Similar to a mini 1911, the handgun was manufactured in Spain by Star as "Garcia Model 30" and assembled in the USA in the early '70s. Colt contracted with Star and marketed these handguns under the tradename Colt model Pony 380 w/o any foreign markings. F.I. also imported and sold these as their model "D" 380. Iver Johnson purchased F.I. in 1978 and also acquired the US manufacturing rights to this handgun and started producing these as the Iver Johnson X300 Pony.
