Confused, mad, and well grrrr

sounds like the poly tip of the AB is cushioning the seating process and causing your excessive deviation.

you can check your other dies and see if there is a stem that fits better. (a good reason to stick with one brand of dies for all your cartridges)

if I remember right, my 357mag and 45acp dies both came with 2 stems for use with different bullet designs.

For a growing number of the newer, longer profile bullets, seating stems must be adjusted. Most companies provide this service if you send in your dies with a request for the bullets you anticipate using. I assume that with time you will see a change in what is provided as the companies adjust to the changing demand of the marketplace.

I load quite a variety of cartridges and use a large number of different bullets. Many of the loads I develop are built around newer bullets as shooters like to be ahead of the curve. FWIW, I have not had a serious problem with either RCBS or Forster dies. Neither have I encountered any major problems with Redding dies. Lyman and Lee dies can be iffy, but I simply use others if I have them on hand.

Okay I took a bullet with out a balistic tip and set it on the sizer stem and it sits on it so it will not wobble like the AB or the SST bullets I have. What would you do to fix the issue?

A: Send the stem in for modification.
B: Order another stem already modified.
C: Drill it out your stem yourself....

Rod

or possibly borrow a stem from a different caliber die, a 7mm or 338 stem might work just fine....
if not then I'd drill it out myself, just make sure that the hole you drill clears the bullet completely.
