Can anyone tell me the expiration date on this TGR special? Also do these rifles need custom bases or 'off the shelf' bases? If I've missed answers to these questions, I apologize in advance.
Spot on Russ. The NRA special runs until December 31st. The rifles are contoured the same as a Remington 700 but you will need to use 2-piece bases--the actions are not the same length.
Normally the lead-time is about 3 to 4 months but we have quite a backorder at the moment--we're looking at about 6 to 7 months! But as long as your order is in before Dec 31 you will get the NRA discount.
We take down your credit card info but we don't run anything until the rifle is complete. We call you about a week before the rifle is finished so you know of the charge, can give us a different card number, send a check/money order etc.. Also, if you would like to send payments while you are waiting in line, we can hold that in an account for you so you don't have a large balance due upon completion. We try to make it easy...
Man, you guys almost make it dangerous. Might be something to look at while I am deployed the next time around, knowing I can pay on it, as it is getting built! Scotty
Ahhh hells bells. That is too easy. I suspect a guy thought that 'pay as you wait' bit up so it can be 'hidden' from the boss lady! That makes the decision so much easier b/c I don't have to get in a hurry to sell any other toys.
Now if I can find somebody to loan me a 7-08 for a few range sessions so I can see if I really like the caliber. $1500 is a bit much to spend on a hunch of a caliber in my opinion.
One of my friends regularly takes moose, black bear and mule deer with his 7mm-08. He doesn't find it necessary to shoot more than once most times, and the game doesn't run all that far. Sweet little cartridge.
the 7mm-08 is darn good, almost as good as the 260rem  load it wit h100 grain partitions or ttsx's @ 3200 for deer and load the 140 partitions or AB's for elk.....BETTER BC and BETTER sectional density and less recoil
