Custom 35 Whelen pictures

My custom LH 35 Whelen built by Gary Stiles is finally done! :grin: And AHEAD of schedule by 4 months! Don't hear that often. Anyway.....he had it on display at a gun show & I took some pictures. He still has a few minor things to do but it is 98% right now. I am more than pleased. The Turkish blank I bought from Ray atkinson turned out very nice. These pictures do not do it justice. I was not able to get many good shots in the tight confines of the show. I will take better ones when I pick it up. All I need to do now is get the rest of the $$$ together. Hopefully by months end so I can bring it home :grin: :grin:

I have another action with him now....it will be a 280.

Very nice rifle Iron Buck. I have a .35 Whelen and I love it. It is no where near as nice looking as that but I don't think I will ever get rid of it.

You are going to love the 35 Whelen. I have a 700 Classic and it is a hammer. I have taken many WT Deer and a Bear with the 225 gr PT.
The 225 gr AB will be a winner for the 35 Whelen.

I can't wait to shoot it. I have several boxes of 225 grain ballsitic tips. They went on sale when Nosler discnt. them. I will play with them first. I will also load some 250 grain Hornady round nose. I use them in my Rem 7600....and it IS the Hammer of thor on deer & black bears!

I agree with you, the 35 Whelen is a Hammer of Thor. With the Nosler PT's, you will get deep penetration with good expansion and nice exit holes without excessive bloodshot meat.

Nosler has introduced a 225 gr AB for the Whelen. Shooters Pro Shop has some factory seconds available. Mine should be arriving this week. :grin
