Well dad was up this weekend and we were able to shoot his new T3 in 25-06. He had me put a VXII 4-12 on it. I used some 75 grain Vmax bullets with Win 760. After zeroing and shooting a little, I shot a 3 shot group and had 2 touching and 1 out about 3/4" Dad shot a 3 shot group at 50 yards and all 3 were touching. He is not a great shooter and shoots about 10 rounds a year. He was very happy with the results. He left it here for me to clean. I plan on working up a few rounds with the 110 AB.

When I take it back to him next weekend, I plan on putting an old .22 in the case and keeping the 25-06 at my house.

WT, I am sure glad you were able to spend some time with you Dad  that is always a great time. There is nothing wrong with a T-3 & the 25-06 is a great calibre!

Blessings,
Dan

Very cool WT! Sounds like alot of fun! I imagine your Dad shoots plenty good enough to slay the odd buck running through the Northwoods! HA!

I need to break out the 25-06 and give it some range time. It is a great cartridge and that T3 is a great one too!

Dad was all smiles with his new rifle. It was his retirement gift to himself after 35 years of work at the same job. I hope to get it shooting for him and convince him to head to WY to hunt speed goats in 2015. I don't think it will be hard to sell him on a hunt.

He shot my AR for the first time today also and liked that also. I want him to shoot my Grendel and 6BR the next time he comes up to visit.

When I set the target up at 100 yards, he looked at me and said, "kind of far to start out." The first shot was 4 inches high and 2 inches right. It was a good time.

Dad's deer stand provides a max shot of 60 yards so he don't have to worry about much. Put the + on the deer and let the 30-06 eat.

WT - Wyoming non-resident doe/fawn antelope tags are cheap, and there are usually quite a few leftovers that just go on sale, you don't have to draw. And you can have more than one in some areas. Just in case you and Dad get the itch..

That's funny!

Good for your dad, he should be able to buy himself a decent rifle after 35 years. His .25-06 should shoot terrific groups with the 110 AccuBond bullets at about 3300 fps. I get 3145 fps from my 24 inch .257 Roberts. Nice, accurate caliber to shoot and certainly up to shooting a white tailed deer at 60 yards once a year.
