I picked up a used marlin a while back after getting some of these bullets from shooters proshop. They are not coated like the normal first quality offerings from combined tech/nosler. I guess thats how they wound up at the pro shop on sale.
But, they sure do shoot. I put a 2-7 burris ballistic plex on the gun and it shot the bullet real well with several powders. The golden load seems to be 34.0 of h4895 and fed 210 primers. This group was at 100 yds and measured .77" from center to center. The average 2295fps. Gotta get some more on order.

Kraky, that is some fine shooting. I may have to pony up for a bag or two of these the next time they appear at SPS. Great shooting, by the way.

I believe that will work for you are anyone else for that matter. Nice

I think bc is listed at about .255 so either its "honest" or some of the other companies are a little bold. On a previous session the computer told me that if I held on the 3rd hashmark of the ballistic plex with a 1.5" high at 100 I'd be really close to dead on at 300. I tried it and went 2 for 2 on the 300 yd gong. That was FUN. Not sure if it's a 10" or 12" gong and was gonna go down and look but another shooter showed up and I didn't want to delay his shooting by walking down and back.

I shoot the .458 cal 300 gr BST out of my 1895 Guide 45-70. Very accurate like yours and deadly on deer. I lobed a few at 300 yds and it was fun!

Kraky! Great shooting buddy. I have a bunch of them ready to load, just never got around to it. Guess I will have to try them in my little M94. They look pretty tough to when they are sectioned. Still waiting on some of the 170 PT's to come out as 2nds too. Those would be a great bullet in the 30-30 and 307 I think.

Good shooting Kraky! It really don't suprise me however.
I haven't shot any firearms yet, that wouldn't shoot the BT's extremely well.

Great job, Kraky1. I'm certain that will make a great deer load.

Kraky, whats the chances of putting one of them 150 BT's into the jugs?

a great bullet test has already been done by one of the good guys at the Marlin forum. Here it is:

I really really like what I see in that jacket.

If you think you'd like to try something else pm me and I'll send you a few when my next batch comes in.
I was curious if they might open up at 300 yds. According to quick target they would be doing about 1490 fps at that range.
Looking at the thin jacket at the mouth of the bullet I think it might.
I tried a full case of trail boss under one and it was only doing about 1150 fps.
A little cross referencing and I think about 21 grains of 3031 should give me decent case fill and about 1600 fps at the muzzle. I have some ammo loaded up with this load. I also made up a cat litter jug with a piece of wood paneling strapped to it. I'm hoping to see the profile of the bullet after it passes through. Kind of a hillbilly test. Anyhow will chrono the load and then place the jug down range to mirror 1490 fps. ( looks like the bullet loses about 140 fps per 50 yds of distance)
Hopefully will get some useable results??

Kraky, I am looking forward to your test. The bolt guns are cool, but the lever guns are a blast!
