Went out today very early to beat the heat.
Took out my 243, 25-284, 223 and 22-250
Primary goal was to retest the 25-284/Retumbo/115NBT loads and my 243 Winchester FW.
Last outing my 25-284/Retumbo/115NBT.....56gr .6" 56.5gr .3" 57gr .7"
This time out 56gr .7" 56.5gr .4" 57gr .8"
Looks like 56.5gr is the sweet spot and doing 3260fps.
A couple more outings at 56.5gr to make sure this is really it.

243/Winchester Featherweight is still not shooting up to par but a few loads showed a little promise and will be tweaked to see if I can get it to come in.
Retumbo seems to be very consistent with any 100gr pills, shooting them all hunting accurate but noting to brag about.
VVN165 seems to be something else to try, Did a few test loads with so so accuracy but extreme spreads are all in the single digits.
Thanks again RiverRider for the Quickload info with VVN165.
H4831SC also seems to show promise with alright groups and good velocities.
H1000 and H4350 did terrible and are out of the test.
Everything today was with a 100NPT.
Starting to think this 243 is a candidate to get rebarreled. maybe a 6mm/284.
Already had my smith pillar and glass bed the action but it made do difference.

The 223 and 22-250 were just something to pass the time while my barrels cooled between groups.
Just did some offhand and field position practice.

I really like your 25-284, very cool round!

Give good 'ol IMR 4350 a try in your 243 Win. It was always my go to powder.

Randy, I shot my boys 243 yesterday with 44gr's of RL19, 100gr PT's, WW cases and CCIBR2's. Seemed to due about 3/4 - 7/8" at 2950. Might be something to look at. Your rifle does sound a little fussy though.

I imagine that 6-284 would be a SCREAMER! Wow, that would really cook. Scotty

My buddy has some RE19 he uses in his 300WSM, I'll borrow some and try it out.
I've got some more test loads to try out based on last weekends test.
It's this rifles last chance. I've put just shy of 350 rounds downrange and still have not found a good load

I think my same buddy has some IMR4350, I just hate buying new powders to try when a rifle seems so picky.

Randy

Randy- You may want to try RL22 if you have any on hand. Ive had good results with it in my 243. Also have you tried using a Magnum primer with the retumbo load?
