You're good to go, same thing. Norma just did the work to get it SAAMI approved so they got to put their moniker on it. When I was playing with one, I started out necking down 284 Win brass, just run it into the fl die, good to go. Later, I tried both the Norma and Hornady 6.5/284 brass. My loads that were safe in the Winchester brass were hard on those two ( about 3 loadings and primer pockets got loose) It was no problem because 284 Winchester brass was available. Good luck finding any now, ha. You will love that round!
6.5x284 Win is wildcat rd OAL is 2.800" and 6.5x284 Norma is SAAMI Spec OAL 3.228". Cases are the same, throat is different and you can use those dies but. Be careful of who's loading data you use. Hodgdon/Horandy data is for 6.5x284 Win max OAL 2.800" and Nosler/Berger is for 6.5x284 Norma max OAL 3.228"
Thanks. My rifle is a savage weather warrior. I have a large supply of 123 & 140 custom comp. They both seem to shoot well. Yesterday, I shot some 140 CC with a full load of imr-4381 and got nice groups. The ballistics of the 140 is impressive. Will take the rifle cougar hunting next week.
