Dont worry about losing velocity if you by a .257 weatherby vanguard with the 24 inch barrel rather than having a 26 inch barrel. My load is 110 grain AccuBond at 3518 fps with 72.5 grains of IMR-7828.
That is why I did not buy one. Granted I have heard of others that are getting good velocities with theirs, but some are not & I don't know all of the why's of that. Myself, I will not take that chance. I called Wea. & asked if they would offer the 26" later, he said that Howa just did not want to, but he admitted that they should. I am glad yours is fast.
I decided after that phone call a couple of years ago to send my 26" Sendero off to Kirby Allen to accurize it & do the Ackley treatment & that worked out for me as well. A 26"AI is very close to a 24" wea. with some brass advantages & now I have a Match Grade Chamber. But again, it is good to see you get the desired velocity.
I think a Vanguard 257 MOA would be great if you wound up with one of those fast barrels.
That is great buddy but not all 24" are that fast. Believe me!
And by the way for some of us velocity nuts  ...if yours was a 26" it would break 3600 fps. Not too shabby.
