That's what I shot my axis deer with. The shot was at almost 300 yards and he didn't even take one step. I know you were probably looking for an unbiased opinion...
JusMo,
And what a great deer that was.
I really like the 7mm-08. I thought about the 280 Ackley, but I have a 7mm Rem. Mag. I'm still kicking it around and haven't decided which one to get yet. You guys over there make it soooo hard to choose. :?
Russ
Justin,
I want to keep my stuff to 7mm and 30cal.
I bought tons of both and don't want to get into another caliber.
I will mull over it some more and let you guys know what I decide to buy.
Thanks
Russ
I understand wanting to keep it within the same caliber - with that said  I have both the 7-08 & .260 in Rem 700's My 7-08 is a tack driver that I really enjoy shooting.
HOWEVER - I will take the .260 any day of the week to hunt with over the 7-08.
Dang it now - a light .260 for the CO Mountains...........I need one
PS, I've have not shot a 260, in fact never seen one. I guess thats why I didn't look into that cal. Most of the huntrs here shoot mostly 30 cal,. 7mm and 270 stuff. Boy, to many toys not enough money.
Russ
That is the way it is for gun looneys! Can't never decide on a rifle, when we have 10 others that would work just as good probably!!! That 260 looks like a really nice one! Scotty
I know it - I generally "need" a new gun like I need a hole in my head.
Both the 7-08 & the .260 I have are basically twins - Rem 700BDL Varmiters. The .260 does have one more inch of barrel and who knows what Mfg. The 7-08 has only a trigger job & bedded.
That 7-08 caliber is a great caliber - actually more accurate than my .260, but I'll always give the edge to the higher B.C. bullets. Amazingly there is a significant difference in recoil as well - That .260 is just a smooth sweet shooting caliber.
A Nosler Custom in either caliber would be a sweet addition to the ole safe !
That's hard to say when my 7-08 will time and time again produce these results
PS, I ment that I have never shot a 260.
I had an Model 7 with the really short barrel in 7mm-08 as a goat gun.
I sold it and regreat it to this day Thats why I'm headed in more of the 7mm-08 direction but Justin isn't making it easy.
Russ
I actually have two .260's  The wife shoots an early model 7 in .260 I'm hopeful to do somewhat of a cutom build on it within the next couple of years to hand it off to my Son.
P.S. I will be heading to Las Vegas in October to check out the Gun Show. Maybe I'll find a Model 7 brother to the one I sold. But then those Noslers are really nice.
Russ
Ha, Ha, Didn't get a 7mm-08 or a 260 or a 284. Ordered a 300wsm  A buddy of mine went to the Tulsa gun show and brought back a model 7 in 7mm-08. He sold it to me (after begging) and i am working up loads for it. Varget @ 41 grains with 140 grain btips and Nosler brass seem to be the load. Sooo the order for the 300 wsm went in just before the sale ended. I also have the gun buying sickness problem that I must seek help for. Ah made later.
Mike, I agree. They had a used Nosler in 7-08 on Shooters Pro Shop, but it was sold. But it all worked out and Happy Days. Can't wait for the 300wsm. Hoping to take it to Aussie land this year.
That is excellent! It is mandatory, of course, that you share some pictures with all of us. What are you planning to hunt in Australia with that rifle?
