I have never used a drop tube before. What do I need to know before I make the transition?
Keith

Keith, a drop tube is just an extension on the end of your powder funnel and allows you to stack the powder in the case for a better fill with large grain powders when you are using maximum loads. I have a RCBS funnel that came as a kit with a 6" drop tube from Midway. Before I got the kit I use to use a straw with the funnel and it achieved the same thing.

Another trick for compressed loads is to take the loading tray full of cartridges and hold them on the top of a vibrating case polisher. It'll settle the charge in about 10 seconds.

Scott fun you should suggest that. I have used an old Remington electric razor to do the same thing when adding buffer to shot shells. (y)
