I have some Elcho 17 powder that I understand is identical to AR17 and am looking to use it for my SMLE but can not find any data for this.
I have been told that I should start with a 40.5 gram load then go up in increments of .5 to get the best load.
Any help with this would be appreciated.
For reference I am using a 175 gram bullet and will be shooting between 100 to 1000 yards
many thanks
Bryan

Bryan, welcome aboard. I have fired no more than a box of shells through a 303 Lee Enfield in my life. No help to you there. I am a big fan of Rl. 17 in several cartridges. I’ve no idea if it is a good choice for your application but I’m sure some one here will help. I do note you are writing gram. You need to be using grains. 40 grams of Rl 17 would be bad Ju Ju. I understand it may be auto correct if not please start thinking in grains of weight.

Hi Salmon. Thanks for the reply. I of course meant grains. As you said Grams would cause some spectacular bad results.
