What is the most accurate powder and charge you have found for the 270.?

I will be shooting 130 GR. Nossler BST's

I have read that a lot of people like the RL 22

But I have also read that H4831 is quite accurate also

I use two different powders with great results. My favorite is H4831sc 58grains and 140 AccuBond. It shoots an inch pattern at 100 yards the other is IMR4350 54 grains and 140 AccuBond is just as good. Hope this helps good luck shooting.

H4831 and IMR4831 are classic powders for the 270 Win.
IMR4350 is another good choice.
Take a look at RL22, good one to start with.

I have loaded for two 270's. Both were very accurate with H4831SC. Supposedly there is no difference in it and regular H4831 (which I use in my 280). With 130's I loaded a bit hotter than 58 gns with great results although I prefer the 140 Accubonds.

My Sako Greywolf loved 59-60 gr of RE 22...

My .270 Rem Mtn rifle (now Long's son in laws ) was fond of H 4831...with 130gr bullets.

I had a Winnie Featherweight 70 (that was very accurate  )... it shot 130s great with RE 19.

As shown here, RL22 and Hogdon's 4831 are the universal starting points. That said, mine prefers H4350 over either of these; 55.5 grains under a 130 gr ballistic tip.

58.2grs H4831SC with a 210M primer under the 130 Hornady in W-W brass. 5 shots in .55" from a M70. reflex264

Sorry for the late post. I just joined the site & am going through the most recent posts for some info. What is a good COL starting point for H4831 under a 140gr BT in a .270? After reading your posts I would assume 56gr of H4831 would be a good starting point for a work-up load, right?

Welcome to the forum.

Nosler RG #5 shows a starting load of 54.0 grs H4831SC w/ the 140 gr bullets. I would start loading bullets .020" off the lands or as long as the magazine will allow.

Let us know how she shoots.

Reloader 19 powder is my choice for the 270 Winchester loaded with 140gr AccuBonds. As far as seating off the lands, I like to be .015 to .030 off of the lands. Like JD338 mentioned, you will have to measure your magazine box to make sure that you do not exceed that length.

a stout load of RL 22 works in both mine and my dads 270's, had good results with IMR 4831 also but my dads gun is real finicky when it comes to loads and its never shot better than with RL 22, only powder that both our guns like.
