After a long hiatus I finally got the chance to go out and test some new toys. I took out my AR 15 Olympic arms 223, Savage 12v 22-250, Ruger #1 25-06 a Classic 350 Remington magnum Rem 700 and my Ruger #1 458 lott. The following is how they faired. Due to complications and the range being packed some groups were indeed fired at 50 yards instead of 100 yards.

223 Rem

This is 40 gr BT with 28.5 gr 748 3250 fps and .45" at 100 yards.

40 gr BT 28 gr 748 3200 fps group is a ragged hole at 50 yards.

22-250

40 gr BT 37.5 gr H4895. 4250 fps and .4" 100 yards.

2225040bt.jpg

.35 gr Nosler factory Leadless rounds at 4300 fps shot several groups .7-8" out of my rifle.

25-06

110 AccuBond 57 gr RL 25 3225 fps .43" 100 yards.

115 gr Ballistic Silvertip 61 gr Retumbo 3235 fps just under 1".

115 gr Ballistic Silvertip 53 gr RL22 3000 fps 1.25" / 100 yds. Ho-hum load.

350 Rem Mag

200 gr Remington Core Lokt load 2670 fps at 100 yards 3/4".

Unfortunately all my 225 NP loads were crap.

60 gr IMR 4320 2660 FPS 1.5" 100 YDS
59 GR 748 2675 FPS 2.5"- 3" DOUBLE GROUP
57GR h4895 WAS 1 HOLE AT 100 BUT WITH A VELOCITY OF 2436 FPS....MIGHT AS WELL BE A 358 WIN. Gotta try rl 15 in this one.

458 Lott

350 TSX at 2810 fps !! 93 gr H4895 1.25" at 100 yards and man it hurt. I think I am responsible for the flyer.

510 Win 82.5 gr Win 748 2125 fps 50 yards

510 win 92 gr H4895 2185 fps 50 yards

Overall I am very pleased except for the 225 NP in the 350 rem mag and the 223 rem velocities in the AR. Will have to improve these.

Pop,

Busy day at the range for sure. Looks like you have some great loads so only a minimal amount of load development necessary.
In the 350 RM, how about IMR4064? My Whelen has similar case capacity and it shot the 225 gr PT very well.

Looks like fun....although I hate crowded shootin ranges. Can't believe there is anything crowed in Wy though  Was there too many antelope hanging around??????

I'd be interested in seeing some pics of your range out there. How many miles can you shoot? :)

Good report.
You've got 80 fps over my 458 Lott load with the 350 gr. TSX load and it looks real accurate. I changed the recoil pad on mine and it helped. It's a lot more fun to shoot from a standing position than the bench.
Congrats
Greg

For sure u enjoyed grouping the .458L, after 4 o 5 your neck starts to
sore, and after 10 u need some aspirins.
All that shooting in 1 day! the next time POP Ill fly from here and help you with the chore.

Wow POP, the wind stopped blowing enough for you to go shooting????

Yup! You believe it?

POP,

Out of curiosity, it is often windy in Cheyenne. Are you usually shooting with a crosswind, a headwind or a tail wind? I'm curious because we are on the edge of the prairies and often have a wind to work through, so I'm doping the wind to check out a load.

Consequently, those are some fine groups. I always appreciate seeing the work of the riflemen on the forum. Good post.

According to the NRA you must shoot to the north. Wind blows from the Rockies which are situated West. Either Utah blows or Nebraska sux . Not too sure yet!

Now that is funny! Hopefully, those members of the forum living in those states will not take umbrage at the dilemma you have presented.

POP,
Don't you have plans to take the 350 on your elk hunt this year ??

I hope to. Depends n how she shoots. I will try 4064 and some rl15 with the 225 NP's. It shoots the 200 gr Remington factory well but I am allergic to factory ammo.
