I have a Savage 93 which cost about what you paid. The only difference is that mine has the Accutrigger. I have been mostly pleased with this rifle and it is very accurate with most of the ammo that I have fed it. I shoot mostly Winchester Black Box ammo (the 30 grain stuff) and it shoots at about 3/4 MOA at 100 yards. I have a 2-7x28 VXII Leupold rimfire on the rifle which is sufficient for my uses.
The only issue that I have had with it is with the sear releasing and not firing if I do not fully turn the bolt handle down as far as it will go. I just need to conciously push the bolt down before each shot. This is a defect but not a game killer.
I have the rifle zeroed at 75 yards and it is right on also at 15 yards. Fifteen yards is the exact distance to the slab under my birdfeeder where rats have burrowed under my shed slab in order get a free birdseed dinner. My cat kills several of these rats and I get my share shooting them through the right eye at 15 yards offhand from my upper deck as they sneak out from under the shed. Keeps me sharp, the cat and the rat's sharp as well
