at the range with my dad and he was fliching on every shot. whats the best way to cure a flinch?

Start with a .22LR and slowly move up, wear good ear protection, have a good recoil pad installed and practice dry firing. Load the rifle for him not letting him know if there is a round in the chamber that way he can see what he is doing.Rick.

Two ways that I have seen work are:

1) Practice dry firing at home (a lot)

2) Have yourself (or another) at the range load his gun with one shell each time before he fires. Don't let him see what you are doing and load either a live round or a snap cap (or spent casing) in the gun and have him fire as normal. If he doesn't know what is going to be in the chamber each time, he will gradually loose the "anticipation flinch". He will readily see his flinch when he fires a "dead round".

Hope this helps him....I know both methods have worked for others.

This method has been very effective both for me and those I've worked with. It is the single most effective teaching technique I've ever tried.
