Title says it all. I just moved down in April coming home from my AD orders and am stationed in West Palm Beach. A lot different then from when I spent most of my life on a small 25 acre farm in Connecticut/my 2-3 years I loved up north in central Maine. I miss the big woods :(

So to get to the point, I am dying to get back into hunting, but dont know where to start. I will be using my old Oneida bow until I can get my TGR... Does anyone know anything about the hunting in Florida, esp. deer, turkey, and hogs? And also what are some prime locations to hunt in Florida?

Lots of ranches down there for hogs. Google them call them and see what they offer.

There are a number of posters living in Florida. One, roysclockgun, is a great fellow. Keep your eye peeled for his posts. He moved a few years back to the Sunshine State.

You'll have ample opportunity on the middle-west parts of the peninsula for hogs, as well as Osceola Turkeys, and some small deer. Start checking around the local gunshops and like Fotis says, google and get on the phone. Also, don't discount the public lands near you. You might find some good hog hunting there, if you're willing to do a little walking.

Good luck buddy. Seems like some great deer and hog hunting in Florida. Hope your able to get out after them.

What is a good caliber for deer and hogs down here? The deer seem small, but the hogs can get over 300+ lbs...

A Marlin 1895 Guide gun in 45-70 would be a nice, quick handling hog hammer.

35 whelen

heck even a 30-06 is great

Right now I am caught between the 35 Whelen and .30-06...

Rifles chambered in 35 Whelen seem hard to find, which seems to be the drawback...
