For those looking for a project

Jake,

That would make for a nice build. A 280 AI would be the ticket!

I looked at that one too, I need a Winchester for a build but I need a SA. I might settle for a Montana 99 action for my build as I can seem to find one of them for a better price than I can get the Winchester.

For the lefties there is a pretty good deal on a 7mm WSM FWT on GB as well.

Man, could I ever use that right now. Too bad it is not this side of the border.

It could be arranged!!!

I have no doubt. However, I would never deliberately induce anyone to get in trouble with HS. I don't imagine they'd look kindly on violating their regulations to keep the homeland secure. :?

Here's one on our side but it doesn't say if it is a pre 64, push feed or current version.

I have Tim looking for a donor action. I thought briefly about buying a new FN just for the action, but he was quite confident that he could find a good used action fairly quickly. There was one on the used rack, but it was a push feed and I preferred CRF. Barrel is ordered and stock is in hand.

Were you going to do it in a short action or long? The 284 is a pretty cool round.

I'm going long action, Gerry. I do believe it will be a fun round, duplicating my 280s and nipping on the heels of my 7WSM and 7RM. It is a good thing that I like 7mm cartridges.

I think you may have mentioned that :) Was thinking a guy could get a left hand Tikka 7mm-08 rechabered as well.......

Oh, yeah, that'd work. This looks like a spring date at the earliest. It's okay, as I don't really want to be out in this cold.

I may be backwards but honestly I have never seen the appeal of a pre 64 winnie. Especially since you can get a classic these days.

Good point, Fotis. I admit that it would only be the knowledge of something old in my hands. I certainly have no complaints with the CRF actions that I now have, both from CT and from SC.
