Forgive me, I must confess my RADD sins.

While I've been encouraging others to cross that line I have transgressed myself and I hope in confessing that I'll achieve some level of redemption. If not; then at least take some vicarious enjoyment from my aquisitions - I mean transgressions.
I've been bargain hunting for a few months and found a few. They were glassed with purchases from fellow forum members. I finished the mounting and bore sighting this afternoon and thought they were pretty enough for pictures. Working on a whole bunch of loads for different rifles and the next time it stops raining I'm dedicating a whole day to range work.
Enjoy,
Scott

I really try to buy synthetic stocks on stainless guns but I always seem to end up with pretty blued guns in nice wood stocks! I guess I like 'em pretty as well as accurate. The wood stocks often require pillars /bedding and if you wax the oiled stocks they hold up quiet well. The dings they eventually get are all stories to be waiting to be told.

Scott,

Very nice collection you have there buddy. You have the 30 cals covered nicely.

Sweet. There is nothing left to say but, "Sweet." You have fine taste in rifles.

Nice set of rifles! But you never admit to your friends you have a problem. There's those of us out there that will start posting rifles to round out your 30 cal collection maybe starting out with a 30-378?

Wow, Scott, that is some beautiful trio of rifles. That is a 30-06 I could get behind! Man, it is pretty!

That Ruger is very sharp as well. Can't wait to hear how they all shoot though! What a group. Lucky Devil!

Thanks guys! These guns I picked up in various places But I obtained each of them for a lot less than what you'd pay for a standard Model 70. Pretty proud of my "deals". I started thinking about the .308 cal collection. All I'd need to add would be a savage 99 in 300 savage, 30-378 and the 308 Norma. I don't think I'll go there though. The plan is to work up loads of 165grAB in '06, 200grAB in the 300Rum and I think 180's in the 300 WIN although for some reason I have the urge to play with the 220PTs in the Ruger; just something about those express rifles begging for heavy for caliber bullets! That Ruger is a heavy rifle - just at 9lbs with scope. It should be real easy to shoot. When I hold the Ruger it makes me want to go back to Africa. The 300Rum is going to reach out there a ways - I'm not sure what glass will be the final choice but it'll have to be some really nice glass. I'll keep you all posted as I work up the loads.

Are you going to pillar/glass and put a pad on your 300 RUM Scott? Just wondering. I know it really turned my 264 into a beast.

Scotty,
Definately the pad. I'll wait to shoot it before I decide on pillars/bedding. I've found that most wood stocks benefit from bedding; especially when out in the weather. Just got done prepping 100 cases tonight. I'll work on the starting and break in loads tomorrow night. I also prepped 100 Whelen cases as well. I think I'll work on the Whelen loads tonight - can't seem to sleep.

Scott

Yeah, the Whelen has that effect on us!

I know the bedding on my 264 Sporter wasn't exactly awesome and I kinda worried about the stock getting beat with what was there. Since I have glassed my 264, it has really been ultra consistent. I should have done the pillars when I was in there as well, but I would have a hard time messing with it now. I am sure I will get a chance with the next one though.

I think You and Brian will be neck and neck working and shooting your rifles. His should be a ton of fun on the bench as well. I would think the glass/pillars and recoil pad should make them drive tacks though. Well, maybe not the pad directly, but I am thinking it will help. I haven't found a much better stock for me than the Sporter for making recoil seem very easy to handle.
