Been spending some time at the range with a rifle I recently acquired from a fellow member here in Oregon. I always find it comforting to just have a bunch of trigger time as the hunting seasons approach.

Last month, I picked up the Remington 700 in 300 Savage from a fellow member. The barrel has been cut to 21 inches and it handles much like a Rem model 7. Has a 4X Nikon scope and is great fun to shoot.

Shoot some paper, then shoot the steel plates and I feel good about my shooting.

Will take other calibers hunting, but the little Savage 300 is just lots of fun.

Here is a picture of the rifle. (Definitely more fun than the Tikka T3 in 338 WM pictured in the background.)

Interesting looking rifle. What are you feeding the 300 Savage?

That little 300 is very sharp Eric.. Just a great looking rifle! I know I would love to hunt with mine a little this Fall.

Nice lil gun you got there. Be a pleasure carrying that in the timber

Bill gave me the load of 150 gr Hornady with 41 gr of IMR 4895.

Seems to shoot these well. Already 50 + rounds down range over the past couple weeks. Easy to load and shoot.

My type of rifle.

I was hoping for an Oregon deer hunt this year, but family stuff too up my long weekend of hunting.

I have a bunch of the Tikkas and wondered, just how bad is the recoil on that 338?
