Going to be cold!!!!

It's -5C (23F) here now. Wife was all excited because it is supposed to be sunny this week...yup...Sunny till Tuesday. Highs of 30F then on Thursday, periods of snow. Maybe I'll actually be able to use my man toy aka snowblower this year.

Unseasonably warm at the moment, Vince; 25 F is a veritable heat wave! It did start a bit cooler this morning; it was -9 F when I got up at 4:30.

Ya I'll say, it hit a high today of 27 degrees F here and a low this morning of 9 degrees here. So Vince I have a lot of sunscreen I wont be needing for seven months, would you like me to send you some?

WI Teacher, those body sleeping bags are called Heater Body Suits. Something else that works real well are those hand warmers that are like a hugh roll you wear in front of you kinda like the olden days when women wore them but they were made of fur. It allows you to place both of your hands in them from each side, even with heavy gloves and it attaches around your waist with a strap.

It's bitter cold here, I prefer to hunt from the warmth of my house and hope something makes the mistake of being seen...... went out this AM and unless I was in the sun, it was way too cold sitting out there for something to come along.

It was 6* when we started setting decoys out yesterday and they said it got to 1* at around sun up. It felt warmer then compared to 11am when it was 20* and the wind was blowing 10+mph. The forecast for this morning is -3 here. The new waders are pretty awesome for staying warm it's just the hands and face that require a lot of covering. As is typical, we shot 32 ducks (3 short of a 5 person limit) and picked up the decoys because it was dead. After we picked up we literally had 1000's of ducks within calling range even with the trucks next to the blinds.

I was 16F when I went into the woods yesterday for my last archery hunt of the early season. I did not see and deer but I was warm. I have learned that layers of long underwear are important. I also had the neck gator on with my hand muff. My problem with hunting in the cold is drawing back and not being heard by the deer. When it is cold everything makes noise. With a rifle, it is a lot easier. We start our rifle season next Saturday. Low of 8 and a high of 30 with a light wind so it should be beautiful. Now to have a deer or two step out in front of myself or my dad and life will be great.

Leaving tomorrow for rifle season. Sounds like it is going to be warmer this year than last year.

Nebraska's November firearm deer season opened Saturday and the weather couldn't have been more perfect. This year was the first time in at least 10-12 years we had a nice blanket of snow on the ground (2''-3'') for opening day. Temps were in the single digits in the morning and didn't get too far north of 20 during the day. Perfect weather if you ask me.

I don't know about other parts of the country, but our bucks were rutting hard all weekend. Almost every one we came across had their nose to the ground like a bloodhound. They almost didn't even care we were there.
