Got a doe tag for this year. So at least if I have time I can try and get away for a few days. It's a unit couple hours away so I can't take one off the alfalfa. I get maybe half the season to try as I have to work the first 3 weeks of the season. I guess I have the chance to get one now.

Congrats buddy! Better than nothing. Seems like a good reason to get your little Swede up and running too!

Way to go. When I lived up there we always put in for area 15 which was the Battle Mountain area. A favorite spot was to go out Krum Canyon to the access road to the radar station. About a third or so of the way up a gully ran along side the road and we'd drive just past where the gully disappeared and hunt on the left side of the road. About a quarter of a mile hike and we'd start the hunt. Dunno what Nevada calls that area these days but back in 1979 and before it was area 15 and the only either sex area in the state. Your tag was good for buck or does, whichever you wanted to shoot. My kids took a few deer out of there as well as the White House Ranch. My oldst daughter was friends with the foreman's daughter and we got permission to hunt the ranch. Until a bunch of California lawyer bought out the T Lazy S ranche we also got to hunt that place as well. THose were some pretty good times as drawing a tag for your first choice area was pretty doggone easy. Probably around 1977 tags became a lot harder to get and my hunting buddy Don in Winnemucca hasn't drawn for deer in in something like 6 or 7 years. Funny thing though, he seems to get co elk tags for the Ely area quite often. Usually gets one too. After I moved here I put in a few times for deer but Nevada got greedy soaking non-residents so I quit trying. I do miss my old hunting buds. I only had my ex-son in law as a hunting partner down here but financing two kids in college put a serious crimp in any hunting he can do. Now my bestest hunting buddy is my wife. 8) Can't wait for October to get here so we can put a couple of deer in the freezer. Broke our 6 year jinx and finally drew tags. Then, come December I'll do a cow elk hunt in New Mexico and I've elected her to be the official photographer. 8) Can't wait.

That is a cool recollection Paul. Sounds like you have a great Fall lined out as well! I wish you alot of luck this year buddy!

Thanks guys they were the left overs but I really didn't care I really wish it was a 15 tag but I guess beggers can't be choosers. Maybe I'll get to blood a new rifle! The Swede, or the 280AI?

Ok we know Scotty's vote, maybe it's because it's a Wincester? We will see what we have for terrain first if I'm hunting a friends hay field or river ground the the AI will get the nod, with the Swede in the truck, if I hit the slopes the Swede, if I get my LD done. Waiting on my dies brass and eyes to show up.

YA! Da Swede vud be grate!

If he won't use it I could put it to use after the elk tag is filled. Heck, I would use it for elk too! I imagine no elk is going to shrug off the 140 PT's!

The Swede will work for elk. I know that it works quite well for moose.

But the AI shoots great might have a 175 PT load done besides the fire breathing 160AB load. I will try to get the Swede done. Parts are on the brown truck.
