Too make a long story short, I haven't been around where I deer hunt at for about 3 1/2 months due to my work schedule and one of the guys I hunt with told me we have a major hog problem on our hands! 4 of us went over last night and set up a ambush for them this morning at first light and it rained hellfire for about 5 minutes!

Between my 444 marlin, two 45-70's and a 460 smith it sounded like the battle of little big horn! :) and when the smoke cleared 6 hogs laid dead!

They ran into a green briar thicket and we did a drive and I got elected to drive them out since I was the only one wearing brush pants and I let one have it with a load of 000 buckshot from a 12 ga. Some more shots were fired but no one made contact!

I hope we drove them into the next county! But all in all it was an absolute blast!!!

You mean that literally! It does sound as if it would qualify as a great time.

Bad choice if words on my part. It was an absolute blast! It only went off as well as it did because no one bothered them till this morning and we let them come out into the field and mill around for 10 min or so before we opened up on them.

It sounds like a great time; it seems entirely appropriate to describe it as "a blast."

Hogs are the next itch I want to scratch. Thankfully there are none in this area so it will take some travel to get to some. The BLR has been pestering me about lack of use and I can't think of a better scenario to run a lever thru its paces.

Well.... anytime ya can reemove a pest.....tis fun in the sun!!!

Since we are having a growth of hogs around here.....I tell the deer hunters I know... If you have a hog in your stand area.....kill it.... cause they tend to drive the deer out.

Glad you put the smack on some hogs. They will do a lot of damage quick to your hunting area.
Where are you located?

Here in MI we are starting to have a hog problem, but so far it is isloated pockets. The MI DNR has declared war on the hogs so there is no season or bag limits. So far there are none in my area.

Southeast OH in Meigs county wellston OH is the nearest town, they've really tore the ground up routing around for food. Hopefully it won't screw up the deer hunting? It was the same around here just small pockets here and there. The game warden told us yesterday they're starting to get put of control in that part of the state!

Yeah, that is what we are afraid of and the hogs will take over.
If I ever see one, I will shoot first and ask questions latter.
Something to keep in mind....if you are hunting and you have a few come in, shoot the farthest one first just like coyotes.
