I have 2 pistols with red dots and now 1 with a green dot sight. Before red was pretty east to see then before cataract surgery got really hard to distinguish. Have a red fiber optic and green fiber optic on couple of shotguns. Since getting this last Ronin with the green dot I have really started liking it better. At the range yesterday the red dot would fade out on plates painted white and the green would not. The sun was shining on the plates quite a bit. If shooting paper targets that are green, blue, yellow the red is ok to see. The green visible on all. Had read, been told that green was better, but this old dog was slow to learn a new trick. Which one works best for you on most targets shot at?

I had the Cataract surgery on both eyes last fall and that made a world of difference in seeing the red dot as long as I don't wear my glasses which have been adjusted to compensate for the new lens implant.
The lens implant is for distance, and I need the glasses for reading.
The red dot for me now appears rounder without my glasses which is what I wanted to achieve but have not tried the green dot so maybe I'll pick up a cheap green dot and give it a try.

I wonder about the green when hunting fall bears in the Alders, spring bears not such a big deal the buds are just coming out. A friend of mine has a Trijicon and tried the green dot. He didn’t loose the dot but he never got over the idea he was going to loose it. Not quite apples to apples in this discussion but food for thought if you’ll be taking a range gun hunting.
As to old eyes, cataracts and seeing red it’s an issue for me as well. Sucks getting old.

I switched from a Red dot to a Green dot and find it is much better during the daytime. Where Red dots will fade the green dot stays very visible. Night shooting with a light is even better and the Green dot sticks out like a sore thumb.

I've thought the same, and is what I am currently debating on putting on my 10mm and revolver for hunting and leaning toward the red
