On December 31st, tens of thousands of Connecticut gun owners defied a new state law requiring them to register semi-automatic "assault weapons", thus making them a felon overnight. It's estimated that there could be as many as 350k+ semi-automatic firearms in CT that fit within their definition of an assault weapon and thus required to be registered with the state. As of Dec 31, 2013, less than 50k had been registered. State politicians are bewildered.
