Never say "Never" when it comes to a gun registry lasting forever. Canada abolished the hated "Gun Registry" when the Conservatives were elected. However, Quebec wants to maintain records on that now abandoned gun registry. So, the province went to court to secure all the federal data. Of course, that is just what we red necks in the west want--Quebec holding the data of who did and did not register long guns. The federal government has been fighting this through the courts ever since. Now, it looks as if Quebec will get at least some of that data and perhaps have their own gun registry. If the US ever permits registration of guns, know that it will be something endowed with eternal life by government fiat and ineptitude.

The trend of urbanization has bleak implications in this regard, since a higher percentage of the urban populations are less likely to have ever owned any type of gun, and are not particularly worried about registering those who have.

Discussing the 2nd Amendment in 1833, Associate Supreme Court Justice Joseph Story wrote that "There is certainly no small danger that indifference may lead to disgust and disgust to contempt and thus gradually undermine all the protection intended by this clause of our national bill of rights."

1833! 182 years ago! Then, as now, the best way to preserve the 2nd Amendment is to support the education and participation of our youth, families and friends in the shooting sports as Mike and so many others here have illustrated.
