Gunsmith recommendations - North of the border

I will be giving a full report on my 35 whelen if I can remember how to write by the time I get it. You know I am kidding but would sure like to see it.
I know 2 other people that have had work done by them and both stated that it was top shelf.

I also know that there is a gentleman in Oklahoma named Dave White that has a very good reputation. His company is called D & T Custom Gunworks (918) 244-6284.
I am not sure how hard it is to get rifle down there & back.

Blessings,
Dan

Ben, that looks like a NO BS hunting rifle right there. Plus it is chambered the 300WM. Not much need for much else. Seems fair on price, but I know 0 about the RMR rifles. You looking pretty hard at it?
It has caught my attention quite a bit yes.

I would say that for here (in the hunting conditions that it would be used in) it would be an overkill of a rifle; I see it as purely a range rifle meant for long range shooting.

Here’s how I’m looking at this used Custom Vs new Production rifle search:
With this RMR, I would be getting really a full custom rig: a great stock that I like (both the company and the fact that its adjustable in the LoP and comb height, so fit will/should not be an issue), an action and trigger better than I’d ever need as far as I’m told (never used them myself) and a barrel that I know comes from a great company.

Price – say I get lucky and have it for $2,650, taxes in and all. Add to it a Swaro scope for $1,400, send it over to RMR for a MB installation for another $400+ and I’m up to about $4,450. For a rifle that probably would cost someone closer to $6,000+taxes+wait time as a new rifle, it’s a pretty good deal.

The other option is to go with a new production rifle, say a Nosler TGR or a Cooper. They sale here for the same price, around $1,950. Tag on the same options as above (though I’d be more for the Nosler as I’d have to have the whole barrel recoated in Ceratoke as the muzzle brake install) and I’d be up to $3,750, a difference of about $700. Would I be totally happy with that rig? Absolutely, no question about it.

I’m looking at every possible options and angles as you can see – remember that overthinking it thread!!
