I'm working on a load for my 300 WSM with a 168gr Barnes TTSX with IMR-4350 and a Fed 210 LR primer and it's showing good results with a 65gr charge.

Would there be an advantage to using H4350 over IMR-4350? I have a little tweaking to do, but I'm pretty content with the current load I'm working with.

I can't think of any.. Both of them are just as good as the other. Never ran into a place where one shined above the other with tailored loads.

Good advice, that. Similar burn rates, similar density, etc.

I thought that was the case, but wasn't sure. I just need to mess with the seating depth and should be good to go.

I was actually wondering the same thing not to long ago. One added question I had was temperature sensitivity. Are they fairly close? I hunt whitetails late in the year and have had temps down well below zero (Fahrenheit).

I hunt at times in temperatures dropping to minus 30 and shoot at the range in such temperatures. Truthfully, the claim of temperature insensitivity is not all we want it to be. Any powder at extremely low temperatures loses some velocity. You need to verify your velocity, POI, etc. at temperatures near those to which you will be hunting.

Dr Mike is right - verify it yourself to see.

Meanwhile - H4350 has been used with excellent results in 1000 yard benchrest, using heavier bullets with the .300 WSM.

If I had a good IMR4350 load, I wouldn't change a thing. However, I have a good H4350 load for the .300 WSM, so I won't change a thing.

I can't say anything about the 300 WSM, but in my 280 AI I can get the 120 BT under half inch most days with IMR 4350. I ran out of IMR one time, thought not big deal I'll just grab this bottle of H4350. I could not get them under an inch to save my life. tried a bunch of different loads and seating depths. I have tried them both in my 338 WM with the 225 AB as well. Had a bit better luck with the IMR 4350, but nothing satisfactory from either.

Hope it works out better for you.

..."temp. sensitivity" seems to have a lot more to do w/ who's telling the story than the actual powder. Hodgdon "Extreme" & other powders under controlled conditions showed similar pressure variations. Unless you're shooting in excess of 400yds. you probably won't notice a difference in MV.

... .300 WSM left outside @ 17* overnite, 200yd. "cold-bore zero check"...

The tests that I saw for temperature sensitivity on IMR 4350 were less than 100 fps to zero F.

I have found that I get a little more velocity out of the IMR verses the H powders. Accuracy remains excellent with both powders.
