Thank you for the kind wishes. It was a grand day of working on the message to be delivered this coming Sunday. Then, I broke off about 4:30 to greet my grandson and his bride as my wife prepared a favourite meal. I wasn't cooking as is frequently the case. And ere long, there was a meal of chicken fried steak, mashed taters, milk gravy, black-eyed pea salad, all washed down with a Dr. Pepper. It was a repast fit for a king and a delightful day.
I was asked on one occasion why I drink Dr. Pepper. During my doctoral studies I was funded as a doctoral fellow by the Virginia Lazenby O'Hara foundation. She also funded the department of biochemistry at the medical school to the tune of several tens of millions of dollars. Ever since then, I've opted for the drink whenever possible.
