I have a Winchester Coyote in .223 WSSM it was used but lightly when I got. I love the rifle but the .223 WSSM is not a round that I have don't have a lot of need for and I have a hell of a time getting it to group and it gets tougher and tougher. Even thought there has not been a lot of rounds pumped through the rifle I am starting to think that the barrel has issues.

What I could really use Is a long range coyote, wolf, Eastern Montana deer and antelope rifle. There are not a lot of options in non-wildcat rounds. My thought was creating a 6.5 WSSM and setting it up to shoot the 130 grain AB. Thinking that maybe I can get close to 3000 fps. and the BC is extremely good.

Thoughts anyone.

I think it sounds great! That would probably be a real nice running rifle.

... some of the guys @ WSSM have built 6.5 WSSM's & WSM's, but the site's down. A google search will probably turn up some info. Case cap. is pretty much on par w/ a .260, but I'm meeting or beating my .25-06 w/ the .25 WSSM. Check your mag length to make sure you can seat the longer 6.5's...

...rebarreling to a .25 WSSM might not be a bad option, after you look @ the cost of dies, etc. Haven't had any antelope or mule deer complain about getting whacked w/ a good 120gr. (MV of 3100fps+ out of my rifle @ near Max Load), 75gr pdawg loads, & 85-90gr. varmint loads, especially the new 90gr. BlitzKing (B.C. 0.393) that takes it to a whole nother level...

The .25 WSSM is my plan B. I am wondering about the bullet length and hoping someone had played with it and can tell me if the 130 grain AB will work or if the bullet will be too long. I appreciate comments about the .25 WSSM as it may be what I end up doing.

I would take a look at the 6.5 saum as well, george gardener "owner of GA precision" did pretty well with one "won it" at the snipershide cup this year.
