Have any of you noticed that your Accubonds seem to shoot better if loaded to a shorter oal than other bullets? I have been using them with fantastic accuracy out of my 280 right at 3.330 Saami. Typically I have better accuracy loading to a longer oal with most bullets. Also with both my Browning 7m-08 and my buddies Browning 280 we have better accuracy loading to less than Saami. Seems strange to me

Does this shorter OAL also result in a shorter, longer, or equal to, base to ogive lenght? The distance from ogive to the leade is the critical number.
One can have two or three differing OALs and still be at the same distance from the leade, or vice-versa.

My .270 WSM did not like to have the Accubonds seated close to the rifling!! I had to back them .060" of the lands using a Stoney Point tool before the grouping tightened up. I'm getting .25-.50 MOA with them .070" off the rifling.

Nice groups bowhunter. I do not recall that happening specifically with AccuBonds but I have noticed it with certain load combo's. Sometimes our general rules don't always work. I've seen some loads with horrible runout shoot 1/2 MOA at 100 yards. Go figure. Keep me posted on your results please. I try to do the same test when I get a chance.

I understand that ogive measurement is more important than the oal. And really I should take that measurement when I get the load/accuracy that I am looking for. Infact, I think I found it on sat. I shot a 3 shot group at .144 (after deducting .284 for bullet diameter). This was with the 2.80 Saami measurement. Shooting my Browning 7m-08 with Re-15 and 140 accubonds. No doubt everything was just right as this is not my average shooting ability. But at least I know the accuracy is there if I can do my part. As long as I can get this without going shorter I will.

My results with the Accubonds were the opposite. I started out at .030 and the accuracy got better the closer i got to the lands. I got the best results with the bullet seated at .010 off the lands in my Remington 25.06 Classic. I shot the best group (4 shots) of my life with the AccuBond seated at .010 with a full house of RL22 that measured 0.325  . I can't wait to try it on Whitetails in several weeks. God Bless! Mike
