Been using cheapo Caldwell electronic muffs and looking for recommendations for new ones. Peltor, Sordin??

I use Peltor muffs along with custom ear plugs.

If you can have custom ear plugs made, they are well worth the $50-75. Like JD I often wear electronic muffs in addition, but honestly if the plugs are inserted fully you won't notice that much difference. I'd buy the plugs and continue to use your Caldwells over the top. I had 2 pair made 3 years ago, as the first set I had made got lost and I don't want to go without them again. I use them for lawn mowing, snow blowing, power washing, anything that is loud.

For the field I purchased custom electronic hearing protection from EAR, Inc - same company that made my custom ear plugs. Expensive, yes, but they work very well. I can shoot sporting clays with them and never worry about hearing anyone or having a muff affect how I mount my shotgun.

Been thinking about those Walker Game Ear things for a while myself...I always just use plain old plugs while at the range, I prefer the squishy foam type...they seem to work ok...I have fired many thousands of rounds, too many of them with no hearing protection at all (young and dumb)...its amazing that my hearing is still as good as it is, but my left ear is worse than my right...I don't necessarily need the "enhanced" hearing of the Game Ears...but would like the protection at the shot from now on.

Anybody tried them?

I have a custom molded set, curtsey of the VA. I fear for the day when I finally lose them

a Couple of years ago I bought a set of the MSA Supreme Pro-X Ear Muffs for my son and for me. They work great, and we can communicate at the range and in the field.
