Help! What bullet for 45-70

The 45-70 would not my first choice for power line shooting but it is a 300 yard hunting rifle with my load. 300gr bullet with 59.5 of H4198 going 2460fps. Very little hold over with that load. You may want to try some 500gr bullets with Varget for a lite recoiling subsonic load. I think you are gonna have fun with that rifle no matter what you load in it.

Loads that have been recommended for my Martini-Henry 45-70: Using the Berry 45-70 (.458) 350gr. bullet : IMR4064 49gr., IMR3031 45gr., IMR4198 45gr. IMR4350 49gr. I have all of these propellents in my gun room, so which do you men think is my best starting load? I realize that the Martini-Henry is a stronger action than the US Gov'mt. Model 1884 "Trapdoor", but I do not want to push the envelope, in terms of pressure in an action that is well over 100 years of age.
