None of those methods are legal in Oregon. Most cats are killed during elk and deer season, chance encounters. Like Guy I’ve seen a few but never got a shot. A number of years ago the rancher I worked for had me scouting some deer for client. I met up with him on a ridge top with my spotting scope as he had radioed he needed to get a look at something. Turned out to be a cat sleeping away the day, tail swishing back and forth. About 350 yards laying amongst a rock outcropping and bitter brush. Out comes a much abused and battered 257 bee. One and done. Only time I’ve ever seen one shot.How do you even get within eyesight range of that thing let alone kill it? Dogs? Hunting at night in pitch dark conditions? Using thermal/night vision scopes?
