I'm working in Grand Island, NE this week and got a tour of the factory today. Kinda fun to see the whole process of making the bullets. They have a 200 yard range in the lower level that they are pulling bullets off the line and checking for accuracy all the time. Got to see the test barrels and rail system they use to check the loads. One side note; the lady that gave me the tour got really defensive when I asked about the inter-bond bullets and if I could see how they were made. She was very quick to tell me that no one gets to see their process. :x

That must have been a cool tour.
Were you able to pick up seconds?

Hey, I am gonna pass thru there in June.. Is this something that is offered all the time or need to be scheduled ahead?

Sounds super kool....

Sounds like a great tour. We drove past there on I-80 last summer and I didn't even think to stop. That is what I get for being in a hurry.

They did not have many seconds. There were a few boxes of 6mm bullets that I don't need. The "line" they gave me was that if the bullets are sold as seconds, they should be trashed. I was hoping to get some of the inter-bond 129 grain bullets to test for penetration in my .260. I spoke with one of the techs about any load data for R17 in any calibers and was told they have not been able to get any R17 from Alliant.

I called their local number yesterday morning at about 8 AM (308 382-1390) and had it scheduled for 10 AM. It was just me and the local sales rep I work with that took the tour. The folks there were very nice and accomedating.

Yeah, they are very hospitable. I was there a little over a year ago on business and had some time one afternoon, so I stopped in to ask about setting up a tour later in the week. The receptionist said, "Well it can be done in about an hour, how long do you have?"

I stayed for closer to two.

What I need is to figure out is some business to conduct in Oregon... 8)
