Since this is the hunting forum I figured i will post this here. I will be retiring soon from the USAF and the wife and I are looking at Raliegh NC for a permanent move.

Living in Wyoming obviously I am spoiled so I gotta ask.\
What is hunting there like? Limits? Big game small game etc. Thanx

May I inquire as to your rank and job in the Air Force?

I am interested because my daughter was recently assigned to a C-17 as a Load Master Exemplary in Charleston AFB after flight training in Altus, OK.

I gotta ask if your crazy or what?? You would move from Montana to the East coast? I want to either live in Idaho, Wyoming, or Montana. All for the hunting. The east does not have elk or antelope. I dont know, does not sound like a good trade off, for hunting reasons to me. You are very lucky to live in Montana, at least you get to hunt big game every year. Oregon is going down the pooper as far as im Concerned. I have heard some new elk regs. and they pretty much get worse and worse and worse every time. I got an idea, how bout we bring back baiting and hounds and maybe Oregons elk population might be a little better. I cant wait to move.

Pop,
Hunting is not bad in N.C.. The deer hunting will be great, but they're smaller than you are used to. You should be able to find long and short range habitat. I prefer field edges myself. Small game? It's a rabbit and squirrel hunters paradise!!! Retirment with a couple of beagles don't sound too bad.

Crazy? No married yes! She dones not like it here.

Think South Carolina, longest deer season in the nation, wild hogs, turkeys, rabbits, squirrels, dove, some quail, ducks, etc. Sorry no Elk or Antelope.Rick.

POP,

Keeping the child bride is always the priority.
Why don't you tell us what your bride is looking for and your friends
here will do our best to find the perfect location for "her" in "prime hunting country" for you!

Nice weather, closer to Greece than Wyoming, lots of greeks and greek culture (like NYC---YUK!)

As for me as much hunting as possible, and close to a USAF base for retiree benefits.

Tall order ain't it?

POP,

Well, from one Greek to another, yea.

Maybe someone else will have a good answer.
