I was going to put in for Moose and since I was so busy bass fishing in April I completely spaced what month / day I was in…. Recently retired. I missed the deadline.
So I put in for Elk Cow tag here in my back yard in May. I got lucky and drew a tag!
With beef $ so high my wife is pretty excited about it.

Cow elk should be a reasonable hunt for you. For sure, the meat will be excellent and no doubt welcomed in your home.

Ironically I have hunted a cow elk in the town of May, Idaho. Lots of elk, loaded her right into the truck. Stomach full of alfalfa but I shot her in some ugly brush where they were hiding out.
Hope yours is a good hunt, I really enjoy elk meat-
