I was told it was ice build up. It never ceases to amaze me when I see that video how the guy hurries over to his partner to watch the elk. I give him credit on being focused on the hunt. I would like to examine the barrel to get a sense of how the metal split so cleanly along such precise lines.

Thats one reason I always put a piece of electrical tape over the end of my barrel. Saves a lot of problems and is cheap to use.
