Well, I stand corrected. There may be legal wranglings surrounding the Vienna Convention, but I suspect a SCOTUS battle would either end with confirmation of the 2nd Amendment or end with a disbanding of the Union on that front. I suspect the Union will not survive this century, and it in fact may not survive this decade.

I also read the main stream media claim that it was binding until the Senate voted on it. That did not sound right to me either. King Pinocchio was claiming it was the "law of the land" this morning. For a lawyer, he surely does not know much.

The Union may not withstand this decade with 6 years of it being under the purview of Obama. The states are all taking sides on this issue now and Pinocchio is going to push it until his last day in office. I am so glad that I do not live in Maine anymore! My sister can have it.

I don't see how a breakup can be avoided either. Folks like us are not going to bend to the will of the statists, and those bastards have no intention of leaving us alone.

This democracy was designed as a minarchist federal union. The statists keep pushing for their puppet Pinocchio to intrude into everyone's lives to the maximum he is able to conjure and legislate. The individual states have had their powers in education, voting regulations and medical insurance regulation taken away from them more and more by the federal government.

Now they are intruding on the Second Amendment rights where they were given no power by the Constitution to do so. "The right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" is pretty clear legal language. The attitude was expressed by Sen. Feinstein when she said: pass the law and let the courts decide whether it is Constitutional. This prevailing attitude by the Statists may divide us into two or more countries as already stated.

We are living in challenging times. Whether the republic survives the decade or not lies in the imponderables of God. Whether the citizens want a republic or not, is perhaps the greater question that remains unanswered.

The horrible complexity of even considering breakup of the Union is our ability to destroy the world 5 times over and who ends up with what. When the Soviet Union broke up it was a kind of microcosm of what we would face and have to deal with in this country with our weapon's system complexity and armed forces from divergent places. I assume that King Pinocchio would try and keep all the goodies to hold the world hostage and play cat and mouse with as he seems to enjoy power so much.

As DrMike says and my wife says, this is in God's hands now and we need to pray for guidance and forbearance going forward. I do not know how far the Statists will go before they break and agree to negotiate going forward? I guess that we may/will find out?

Some more irony. If you watched Obama's Colorado speech last night I'm sure you noticed all the Denver Police academy police officers behind him. The news spoke with the officers after the speech and the majority of them were very uncomfortable with his comments. They didn't agree with his comments and didn't want to be there but were "volunteered" for his backdrop. I'm only hoping that the recall that has been started for the various democrap senators and the Governor is successful.
