I got my Kansas deer tag in the mail. Pricey for out of state ($450!) but I'm hoping to see a good buck in archery range.

Anyone else out there get a Kansas tag in the mail?

Congratulations, Joel. That is great news. I always marvel at the deer herd in KS. It sure wasn't that way in the fifties and sixties when I lived there. Are you hunting mule deer out west? Or are you focused on whitetail in another part of the state?

Thanks Dr. Mike, it will be whitetail. I have a Army officer buddy named Josh that has a farm there, I think it's in the central part of the state. I've never been to the farm, but he's taken some big deer off of it in previous years.

Really it's as much a trip to hunt with Josh again as much as anything. One day I'll transition out of the Air Force and I need to maintain good hunting relationships! Going elk hunting with Scotty, Bill, and Matt in Wyoming and whitetail with Josh in Kansas this year.

Sounds as if you have a great year planned with some great people. We're all pulling for you as you hunt this fall. I still have family in SE KS, and there are some fine deer there. However, I've been informed that the whitetails in central KS are, indeed, bruisers.
